Intestinal Transplant
Communication Design between Doctors and Patients 'We need to make sure that complex information is communicated to families and children in a meaningful way'. ——Dr. Lucie Kanfiszer Intestinal transplants are now considered a viable option for children with irreversible intestinal failure suffering from life-limiting complications of parenteral nutrition. Camberwell College of Arts has cooperated with King’s College Hospital to help doctors educate children and their families before surgery. Based on information provided by the hospital and interviews with patients, families and doctors, I have made models to help doctors discuss the risks, benefits and complications of the transplants. The aim of this project is to give psychological support to patients and their families in order to enhance the accessibility of the hospital’s services and improve the patients’ outcomes after transplantation.
